One great thing about having children and grandchildren living in your home is remembering how fun summer can be. For years all I have done is dread July and August with the withering heat they bring. This year has been a refreshing reminder of the fun things that can happen in summer. Last Wednesday, the whole family went to Foster's for an ice cream cone. What a surprise to learn that Wednesdays are $1.00 ice cream cone day....any size! I had mine chocolate dipped. I think I might have been a kid the last time I had a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. Memories came flooding back to the simpler days of my childhood. I could see myself sitting with my family and trying to eat slowly so I could be the last one with an ice cream cone. My brothers were famous for inhaling their treats while I took my time with the ice cream dripping down my hand while I savored the last few licks. How fun it was to sit next to my grand kids wiping up their dripping ice cream.... time marches on, but some traditions remain.
Sounds so yummy! I didn't know wed. was dollar ice cream cones. We will have to check that out. When I was a kid my MOM worked at "Dairy Belle Freeze" that use to be on Clovis and Kings Canyon.. Millions of years ago.. They had chocolate covered Bananas and Chocolate covered Ice Cream Saucers. They looked like space ships.. LOL! That was a fun time. Glad you are enjoying times like that with the Grandkids :)
